In August 2012 I was invited to do an art residency in Leipzig, in LIA - Leipzig International Art-programme - situated in the Spinnerei area.
The Spinnerei is a unique place, a huge ex-cotton warehouse converted in the beginning of the 90s into a kind of small village for art-related activities. There are more then 100 artist studios, 10 galleries and various shops connected with the arts.
Thanks to The City of Bologna and The CiIty of Leipzig - who celabrated in 2012 their 50 years of partnership - I got the invitation to spend two months in one of the studios in Building 18.
I took pictures in varius spots of the Spinnerei complex, which still feels very decadent in a way, and made some strange inhabitants for these abbandoned rooms.
In my personal works I often like to mix different universes in a joyful way, in order to create something enjoyable and disorienting at the same time. And well, this is a good example!
