Sarah Mazzetti was born in Bologna in 1985 and is currently based in Castello nighborhood, in Venice. Her practice covers different areas of the image-making field.

As for editorial and commercial illustration, she collaborates steadily with newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Die Zeit, The Guardian, and she has created images for commercial clients, such as Dr. Martens, Furla, Nike

When it comes to books and visual storytelling, her approach is always specific to the type of narration she’s dealing with, moving from silent stories, to comics, to picture books. Some of the books and stories she has been author for are Nella notte di Milano (Marinonibooks, 2021), Lucilla (Fundación SM, 2019), I gioielli di Elsa (Canicola edizioni, 2017).

Between 2016 and 2018 Sarah Mazzetti has been working on the film Marona’s fantastic tale, directed by Anca Damian, as a background artist and creative consultant.

She was awarded a Golden Medal from The Society of Illustrators (New York, 2022), the International Award For Illustration - BCBF / FUNDACIÓN SM (Bologna, 2019), Gran Guinigi Award for I gioielli di Elsa (Lucca Comics and Games, 2018), the Grand Prix Golden Pen of Belgrade (Belgrade, 2015), and a YCN Award for The Green Man Festival identity (London, 2014), among others.

She currently teaches Illustration at ISIA (Urbino) and IED (Turin).
